(IsraelNN.com) It was fascinating to follow the media on the day after the revelation of the identity of the suspected murderer of the Oshrenko family. The suspect turned out to be a disgruntled and jealous former employee – an immigrant from Russia, like the victims – who confessed to police that he hacked his boss's family to death. As expected, the media gave prominence to all those who spoke against the racist tones that lumped together all of the immigrants from Russia as if they were one violent mas

Jewish Israelis moved into the home of a Palestinian family in eastern Jerusalem after a court ruled that it was Jewish-owned. After a Jerusalem district court on Tuesday denied the Palestinian residents appeal to remain in the home in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, the Jews arrived at the home with security guards and attempted to vacate the family, according to reports. The Jews and Palestinian residents, as well as human rights activists, scuffled, leading to the arrests of some area residents.

Earlier this week, Interior Minister Eli Yishai spoke out about the dangers of allowing asylum seekers to enter Israel. Among the risks he cited were claims that foreigners from African countries would introduce diseases like AIDS, hepatitis and tuberculosis among the Israeli population. The British National Party has leapt on comments by Israel's Interior Minister, Eli Yishai, to suggest that the extreme-right party shares a common immigration policy with Israel. Mr Yishai claimed that foreign workers brought diseases into Israel and that their presence threatened the Jewish and Zionist identity of the state. He also attacked cabinet colleagues who were in favour of allowing the children of illegal foreign workers to remain in Israel.

Not even the Iranian threat, the spread of poverty in Israel or the growing violence are as frightening to Shas leaders as what they consider the real danger threatening the existence of the State of Israel - the Gentiles. Interior Minister Eli Yishai, who has not let up in his struggle against the migrant workers and their Israeli-born children (in recent days, he surpassed himself by speaking of the threat of terrifying illnesses that the foreign workers might bring with them), has now found reinforcemen

Absorption Minister Sofa Landver on Tuesday criticized the media's "racist generalization" of olim from the Former Soviet Union (FSU) following the arrest and confession of Oshrenko homicide suspect Dimitry Kirilik. "Talk of the need to check aliya candidates more strictly and change the Law of Return are unfortunate and racist," she told Army Radio. Such remarks are "an attempt to insinuate that a whole public from a certain origin has criminal tendencies."
